Tomatoes: A Summer Celebration

Nothing captures the spirit of late summer more than biting into a juicy, delicious, locally grown tomato! At Queens Farm we grow about a dozen varieties including German Johnson, Orange Brandywine and Sungold.

  • WHEN: Saturday, August 24, 2024; 6–7:30pm
  • WHERE: Queens County Farm Museum, 73-50 Little Neck Parkway, Floral Park, NY 11004

Join us for a walk in our growing fields and see firsthand how tomatoes are cultivated. Hand pick your own half-pint of cherry tomatoes to take home. Learn about our growing practices, the history of tomatoes, and what makes an heirloom variety or a hybrid. Gain some planting inspiration and insight for your own garden.

Then, it’s off to the tomato tasting table. Note the distinction between different varieties and learn about their uses and preparations. See if you are able to identify them in a blind tasting. Finally, enjoy light fare from our tomato-themed buffet paired with summer beverages.
