The Con Edison Reading Room

COVID-19 Visitor Guidelines

The Con Edison Reading Room was originally built as a “summer kitchen” and most recently was used for the farm’s tomato storage. Today, this vibrant space is open year-round for visitors to cozy up with a book or magazine on the farm.

Here you can find books related to cooking, gardening, the environment, health and wellness, animals, farming, science and NYC history – all aligned with the mission of the Queens County Farm Museum. There is something for everyone!

Simply stop by to enjoy a book during your stay and return it to us before you go home.

This program is made possible through a generous donation from Con Edison. Additional support was provided by the Queens Public Library and Penguin Random House Foundation.

Due to Covid-19, only one pod at a time is permitted in the Reading Room. Limit use to 15 minutes when other groups are waiting. Outdoor seating around the structure has been set up for visitors.

Open daily, year-round from 11:00AM – 4:00PM

Mon, October 10, 11AM – 4:00PM

Except on special event days and federal holidays
