Bug Buddies: Mimicry

June 8 @ 11:00 am - 12:15 pm

$12

This program is part of our Bug Buddies series!

Join us for a fascinating dive into the world of Masters of Disguise as we spotlight nature’s clever imposters: hoverflies! Our Bug Buddies Class is back this spring to teach kids and families about how these harmless insects trick predators by mimicking bees and wasps.

Did you know hoverflies are expert impersonators? With their striped bodies and buzzing flight, they look like stinging insects—but they’re actually harmless pollinators! During this hands-on program, you’ll learn how mimicry helps them survive, why they’re important for gardens, and how to spot the differences between hoverflies and their doppelgängers.

Classes will take place both outdoors (weather permitting) and indoors. All classes are hands-on, exploratory, and include a related activity.
Recommended for ages 3-10 years old, but all are welcome. One parent or guardian must remain with child(ren) at all times, this is not a drop-off program.
