You’re the Bee’s Knees, Honey!

Take a trip back in time to beekeeping in the 1920’s with the Queen Bee of HoneyGramz.

This fun interactive workshop will include a walking tour of the Queens County Farm Apiary, where it’s easy to imagine what beekeeping was like 100 years ago. See and feel what a frame of honey is like. Guests will learn how to make the Bee’s Knees cocktail that originated during the Prohibition and sample a variety of different types of honey.

Refreshments will be provided during the honey tasting from our experienced instructor and resident beekeeper.

Instructor Ruth Harrigan has been a Queens beekeeper for over 15 years. She is our resident Beekeeper and she’s also the owner of HoneyGramz. She has a mission to help save the bees by advocating for the preservation and protection of bees and other pollinators. She works closely with local environmental organizations to reach this goal. Without bees, we would not enjoy nature’s bounty of fruits and vegetables.
