The Art of the Hive
April 21 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
$1495
New York City is buzzing — master the hive.
Urban beekeeping is one of the fastest-growing movements in the city. Rooftop hives, community gardens, and backyard apiaries are producing some of the most complex, hyperlocal honey in New York. But beekeeping requires real knowledge, practical experience, and a patient guide.
The Art of the Hive is a comprehensive, hands-on beekeeping course at the Queens County Farm Museum. In a 12-class series of instruction through a full season of beekeeping, you will achieve the capability of managing a hive, identifying problems before they become crises, and harvesting your own honey.
This is not a lecture series. You will suit up, open hives, spot the queen, and pull frames dripping with honey. By the final class, you’ll have done it all — from the first inspection to the last jar.
