Bug Buddies: Spiders

Spiders might not be insects, but they’re some of nature’s most skilled hunters! Discover how their silk works, why webs are engineering marvels, and how they help control pests.

Did you know not all spiders spin webs? Some hunt on the move, while others use trapdoors or even “fishing lines” of silk! In this program, we’ll look for live spiders (safely!), create Cat’s Cradles using string, forming the string into net-like shapes like some spiders use to hunt, and learn why these eight-legged predators deserve our respect.

Classes will take place both outdoors (weather permitting) and indoors. All classes are hands-on, exploratory, and include a related activity.
Recommended for ages 3-10 years old, but all are welcome. One parent or guardian must remain with child(ren) at all times, this is not a drop-off program.
