About Queens County Farm Museum
The Queens County Farm Museum is seeking an enthusiastic and outgoing Volunteer Docent to join our team! This is a wonderful opportunity for someone who enjoys engaging with the public, sharing information, and contributing to a vibrant, historic community space.

The Opportunity
As a Volunteer Docent, you will serve as a welcoming first point of contact for visitors, helping to create a positive and informative experience for all who come to the farm. This role is ideal for someone who loves interacting with people of all ages and backgrounds.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet visitors and provide a warm, welcoming presence
  • Distribute maps and share general information about the farm, its history, and daily activities
  • Check in self-guided groups to ensure proper registration and payment
  • Answer visitor questions and help orient guests throughout the site
  • Support a smooth and enjoyable visitor experience

Qualifications:

  • Friendly, outgoing, and comfortable speaking with the public
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Interest in history, agriculture, education, or community engagement is a plus

Hours & Compensation

Tuesdays through Saturdays, 9:45am – 1:00pm. This a volunteer position.
