About Queens County Farm Museum
Queens County Farm Museum is one of the longest continually farmed sites in New York State, dating back to Today, the farm serves as a vital resource connecting people to agriculture and the environment, creating learning opportunities and conversations about biodiversity, nutrition, health and wellness, climate change and preserving local history. Queens County Farm Museum is a New York City Landmark and on the National Register of Historic Places. Queens Farm hosts a wide variety of acclaimed education programs, public events and adult education programs. The 47-acre site is the largest tract of farmland, home to the largest single apiary, and the only farm with both a full range of livestock and community composting in New York City.

Queens Farm uses sustainable and environmentally-friendly farming methods and grows over 200 varieties of fruits, vegetables, herbs, and flowers. The farm is a leader in locally grown food and the ecological well-being of New York City. Last year, Queens Farm harvested 22,000 pounds of food. Queens Farm has several acres of land in production, as well as a 3 acre corn maze. The farm also includes livestock (steer, sheep, goats, alpaca, hens, and pigs), a compost site, apiary and perennials.

Job Description:

Queens County Farm Museum seeks motivated, dependable, and enthusiastic individuals to join our Agriculture Team as Seasonal Farmers. Queens Farm is one of New York City’s longest continually farmed sites, cultivating over seven acres of vegetables, herbs, and flowers using sustainable and regenerative practices. Seasonal Farmers play a key role in all aspects of field production, harvest, and distribution, contributing to the success of our CSA, farmstand, and educational programming.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in all stages of crop production, including bed preparation, seeding, transplanting, weeding, trellising, irrigating, and harvesting
  • Support post-harvest handling of produce and flowers for CSA. 
  • Other related duties as needed
  • Assist with the corn maze, the farmstands, volunteers, general ground maintenance, other Queens Farm programs
  • Contribute to farm events and public programming as needed, including seasonal festivals, tours, or educational activities
  • Occasionally driving the farm vehicle offsite (valid driver’s license required), weekend availability, and various special projects
  • Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
  • Serve as a representative of Queens Farm

Qualifications:

  • Passionate about developing a career in agriculture 
  • Has the ability to take direction, show initiative, and work well in a team as well as independently
  • Previous farm experience preferred but not necessary
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, performing repetitive tasks with attention to detail
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lift 50lbs, and kneel/stand/crouch for long periods of time in all weather conditions

Compensation

  • $20/hr

This is a full-time position (40 hours/week) from 4/06/2026 to 12/04/2026. The work schedule is generally Monday to Friday from 7am to 3pm. Occasional weekend availability will be required.
